OSS System Overview
While conventional drilling requires the same basic steps to move a well from concept to production, unconventional drilling demands, because of the volume of wells drilled and speed at which resources must be deployed, can create a variety of process and management challenges. In an unconventional drilling program, the quality and timing of information exchange between departments becomes much more critical. To deal with these challenges, successful unconventional resource companies utilize processes similar to companies engaged in repetitive manufacturing processes.
As a leader in our industry, Sanchez Oil & Gas Corporation has developed and implemented an Operational Support System (“OSS”) to provide complete transparency on our well program across our entire organization. OSS eliminates slack time across the organization, creates a more nimble drilling schedule, identifies bottlenecks before they occur, and allows us to put idle capital dollars to work more effectively.
OSS delivers “first oil” faster and at a lower cost than the prevailing independent and localized approaches. By assessing, planning, and executing all activity across the development and production system, we are reducing working capital through higher utilization of assets and improving returns on capital through improvements in drilling time and cost reductions. OSS makes the end-to-end process more consistent and predictable and establishes a clear line of sight between strategy and execution.
