Historical Activities

Since 1972, SOG has participated in the drilling of over 900 wells, investing a total of over $1 billion in well costs, seismic, and acreage. Total gross reserves discovered have exceeded one trillion cubic feet.

From 1972 through 2008, for wells that SOG has operated, our operating success rate for exploratory wells is 55% and 76% for development wells. In recent years, the results have improved due to the deployment of cutting-edge seismic interpretation technologies. In 2006, our overall success rate was 80%. In 2007, our success rate was 73%. Given our substantial investment in technology and executive talent and our large and diversified land position in the Gulf Coast, we are confident of achieving an even higher level of success in the years to come.
